STREETTALK ON TOUR 2013
Circus meets stencil graffiti in this innovative
street show. The audience will be taken on a journey that includes balancing,
body control, stencil-graffiti painted live, humor and audience participation.
Can this fit into one of your events in June 2013?
StreeTTalk proposes to use the street as a platform for conversation.
Inviting the audience to reflect on what is going on in the world today. Our
key focus will be on environmental issues, to make people understand the
interconnectedness of our fragile planet in its natural as well as cultural
state. Our aim is to invite people to better our world, to remember that
actually every little thing can help: together we can create change- reverse
the negativeness of our actions and create a positive effect.
StreeT-Talk will use the
powerful tools of their art to reflect in a light and humorous way on the
complexities of our modern world. Through the sensitivity of the clown, the
dynamism of live performance and graffiti making, the feel-good entertainment
of circus and the aesthetic appeal of visual art, the audience will be invited to observe their own thoughts
and behaviors.

WORKSHOP INTRIKA
Contact Juggling & Body throws,
After a long experience of teaching workshops to beginners (non jugglers) and jugglers I have developed a step by step explorative approach to juggling and object manipulation.
Through development of body awareness the participants discover possibilities and methods of moving with objects (ie. the basics of contact juggling) .
It gets people moving in surprising ways; Approaching the skill of juggling in this way allows beginners to advance rapidly and advanced jugglers to develop new ways of moving away from their habits.
FRØ production
FRØ production is the brainchild of Rita Rohdin Nyhuus
and Lillian Støa. Rita Rohdin Nyhuus, PhD in Street Arts has been actively
innovating for the last ten years in the Norwegian street art scene. In
2009 she formed FRØ production with photographer Lillian Støa. FRØ have
conducted several large street art projects and workshops. The most recent
project was a permanent artwork commissioned for the recently opened Popsenteret
(House of Popular Music in Oslo). FRØ production create wall paintings
based on stencil graffiti. They are inspired by nature, which is often visible
in their art.

THE SKILL CONTENT OF THE SHOW
Stencil graffiti is one of the most popular urban arts
across the globe, yet the artists work on the paintings alone and the public
only sees the end result. In StreeTTalk we want to share the experience 'live',
make it a happening: merge the performance with the painting.
A stencil is a cut-out shape which is used for spray
painting, Frø Productions has been refining this art so it can produce
amazingly textured drawings, the image in the painting remaining secret until
its complete apparition: a magical element of this form of graffiti. Audiences
see something is being created in front of their very eyes, yet the final image
remains a mystery until the very end.
Intrika are specialists in contact juggling and object
manipulation- their shows are reknowned for their magical aesthetics.
Manipulating the painting tools, as well as juggling objects; integrating
acrobalance and theatrical staging they will choreograph a performance that is
integrally connected to the painting process. Audience interaction will feature
in the performance, to further implicate the crowd.
Though each artist brings a speciality to the
performance, it will be a fully integrated show; all 4 actors fully engaged in
all the elements of the show.
CIRCUS meet STENCIL GRAFFITI
Our artistic concept and exploration arises from the
desire to bridge art forms, to walk new grounds. The StreeTTalk artists are
highly skilled practitioners and are known for excelling within their own field
of research.
At their core these art forms are of very different nature,
Circus is a physical performance with a Temporary nature, Stencil Graffitti is
visual art of a Permanent nature. What they have in common is their
accessibility to the public at large.
StreeTTalk builds a bridge between these
art forms, crystallizing moments of the (temporary) performance
into the (permanent) beauty of a painting…between these artistic disciplines
there is so much room for conversation and we want to make this conversation
public.
When the cobble stones of the city have gone silent
and the street artist have left for other horizons...a silent painting will
still remain, full of life and colors a permanent gift to the cities walls,
touching the passer by.
HOW IT CAME ABOUT:
This project is born from the convergence of two Stencil/ Street
Artists, Rita Rohdin Nyhuus and Lillian Støa (Norway), and two Contemporary
Circus Artists, Anna Kemp (Australia) and Frix Elting (Luxembourg).
An initial investigation of this performance concept was made in Oaxaca,
Mexico in February 2012. The result was a one and a half hour show of live
spray painting, circus and music. Reception from the audience was
overwhelmingly positive, intrigued by the temporary nature of a performance
that materializes into a permanent artwork. The venue was extremely
enthusiastic about the process and result, this solidified our belief in the
potential of the concept.
This innovative cross-pollination is not only new, but a powerful way to
engage and involve audiences. Both Street Art and Circus are ”popular”
contemporary artforms, accessible to all stratas of society, and offer an
exciting vehicle through which to engage communities to feel implicated in new
art forms.
