This project is born from the convergence of two Stencil/ Street
Artists, Rita Rohdin Nyhuus and Lillian Støa (Norway), and two Contemporary
Circus Artists, Anna Kemp (Australia) and Frix Elting (Luxembourg).
An initial investigation of this performance concept was made in Oaxaca,
Mexico in February 2012. The result was a one and a half hour show of live
spray painting, circus and music. Reception from the audience was
overwhelmingly positive, intrigued by the temporary nature of a performance
that materializes into a permanent artwork. The venue was extremely
enthusiastic about the process and result, this solidified our belief in the
potential of the concept.
This innovative cross-pollination is not only new, but a powerful way to
engage and involve audiences. Both Street Art and Circus are ”popular”
contemporary artforms, accessible to all stratas of society, and offer an
exciting vehicle through which to engage communities to feel implicated in new
art forms.
